Pony Express - Horse Transportation is a single-client, charter service, specializing in moving your horses across town, across California, or neighboring states - we are not a "Long Distance" hauler.
What we WILL do:
We will work with you to move your horses on your schedule.
We will provide a schedule of pick-up time and most importantly, a drop-off time window.
We will haul your horses door-to-door in one move.
We will stop every few hours to allow your horses to rest and check on them.
We will use a closed-circuit video camera to monitor the horses during travel.
We will treat your horses like our own, taking the time necessary to load, feed and water.
We will travel as quietly and as stress-free as possible. Taking extra care to travel on smooth, straight roads whenever possible.
What we WILL NOT do:
We will not haul your animals to a holding facility.
We will not haul any animals to auction.
OUR EQUIPMENT:
We have a one ton truck and three trailers; a two-horse slant load Circle-J, bumper-pull, with locking tack room, also a four horse slant load Logan, gooseneck, with a larger locking changing room, and a Circle D stock trailer with a middle slam gate. The Logan has a stud gate in the first slot, and also an escape door for easier loading. All our trailers are made of steel, have rubber mats, lots of screened windows, overhead venting, and carry water. All our trailers are step-up style (no ramps).
OUR PRICING:
Our minimum charge for a local move in the East Sacramento foothills area is $250.
Our charges pay for the driver's time, fuel, truck & trailer maintenance, and insurance. Some long distance haulers charge only for the "loaded mile" -- we charge for the round trip. After hauling your horse to your destination, we (almost) never have a horse for the return trip back to our ranch. Our prices reflect our ability to be flexible and haul on very short notice. Our prices also reflect the size of the trailer and the weight of the horses -- one small horse costs less to move than four large horses.
